Our Services

The UCSF Neurology Clinic is located on the Parnassus campus in San Francisco at 400 Parnassus Ave Eight Floor, San Francisco, CA 94143. The UCSF Neurology Clinic is part of UCSF Health, an American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet®-recognized hospital.

Neuromuscular Clinic

The UCSF Neuromuscular Clinic provides consultation, diagnostic services, and comprehensive treatment for patients with various neuromuscular diseases. These conditions affect the spine, nerves, muscles, and the neuromuscular junction and often are inflammatory, hereditary, or metabolic in nature. Our team is made up of different types of doctors and other healthcare professionals, who work together to identify each patient's needs and control symptoms. This includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, nurses, social workers, a dietitian, a genetic counselor, a communication specialist, and occupational, physical, speech, and respiratory therapists. Patients are also connected, whenever possible, to translational science research that bridges the current understanding of disease with future therapeutic options.

Pediatric Neuromuscular Clinic

The Pediatric Neuromuscular Clinic provides subspecialty and multidisciplinary care for complex neuromuscular pediatric patients. Based at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital (at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus), this MDA-certified clinic is led by Dr. Jonathan Strober and Dr. Alexander Fay with additional contributions from PT/OT, social work, and respiratory therapy; additional expertise may also be provided by gastroenterology/nutrition, cardiology, pulmonology, and genetics. Diverse neuromuscular conditions are treated in this clinic, including: Duchenne and other muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), congenital myopathies, myasthenia gravis, Charcot-Marie-Tooth and other hereditary neuropathies, and yet-undifferentiated nerve and muscle disorders.

EMG Clinic

The Electromyography (EMG) Clinic at UCSF is a specialized facility dedicated to the diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders through the use of advanced neurophysiologic techniques. Our team of highly trained physicians and technologists use state-of-the-art equipment to measure and record the electrical activity of muscles and nerves in order to diagnose a wide range of conditions, such as muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, and peripheral neuropathies. Our goal is to provide personalized care that addresses each patient's unique needs and concerns, while also advancing the field of neuromuscular medicine through cutting-edge research and education.

ALS Clinic

The UCSF ALS Center is California's largest multidisciplinary clinic for patients with ALS.  Our team includes multiple neurologists, research coordinators, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, an occupational therapist, a dietician, a speech-language pathologist, a social worker, and a registered nurse. While our primary location is in San Francisco, we also provide direct care to a wide-reaching network of satellite clinics, including sites in Santa Rosa, Modesto, Fresno, and Monterey, with an anticipated future clinic in Santa Barbara.  We are a growing hub for ALS clinical trials and offer many opportunities for our patients to participate in cutting edge ALS research.  New patient consultations, second opinions, and follow-up visits are available both in person or via telemedicine.

Brachial Neuritis Center

The UCSF Brachial Neuritis Center is one of the first of its kind in the US to provide comprehensive care to patients with brachial neuritis.  Our services include new patient evaluations by brachial neuritis specialists to establish the diagnosis and a multidisciplinary Brachial Neuritis Clinic where patients receive integrated care and recommendations from a neurologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, and will meet with a research assistant to learn about participation in clinical research on brachial neuritis. Our mission is to provide exceptional comprehensive care for brachial neuritis, advance the understanding and treatment of brachial neuritis through scientific discovery and education, and to elevate the diagnosis and treatment of brachial neuritis at UCSF and nationally.

Peripheral Nerve Center

The Peripheral Nerve Disorders Clinic at UCSF provides specialized care for patients with conditions affecting the peripheral nerves. Our team of experienced physicians and allied health professionals work together to diagnose and treat a range of peripheral nerve disorders, such as peripheral neuropathies, nerve injuries, and nerve compressions.

Our diagnostic services include nerve conduction studies, electromyography, and imaging studies, which allow us to identify the underlying cause of the patient's condition. Based on this information, we develop personalized treatment plans that may include medication and physical therapy to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

We are committed to advancing the field of peripheral nerve disorders through research and education, and regularly collaborate with other experts to develop new treatments and technologies. Our goal is to provide patients with the most effective care available and improve their quality of life.
